Barley came into our lives in 2010 when he was 3 months old from a local dog rescue. He is now 5 years old, happy and healthy Pit/Boxer mix.
Barley spent the first three months of his life in a crate and was “flat-footed.” He has a congenital cervical malformation that results in a “hopping gait” off his front legs. He’s very cute, but it must take a toll on his shoulders.
Barley loves the water! When we had a swimming pool, Barley would sit in a kayak in our pool. We took Barley to meet Jean and try swimming. He loves it! Sometimes when Jean has him in water, he just likes to float! We plan to take him out on the “open water” in our Kayak.
Comment from Jean: When watching the video, keep an eye on his front legs: … he can’t “dog paddle,” but moves his legs in a “hopping gait,” in the same way he runs. And for his safety and comfort, I do not take my hands off Barley. But know, that Barley is doing all the swimming …. My hands are just there to give him “mental support.” Barley is a great dog … and swimmer!
